Continued from Part 2.
I needed to refine my project more. I looked again at Dundee’s history but this time went much further back to when the Picts first settled in Dundee and it was known as Dun Deagh (Gaelic for Fort of Fire). I thought this itself was inspirational. I also plotted the sun’s position at different times of the day over he course of the year as these people would have and thought again about the shape and flow of my pavilion in relation to the surrounding landscape.
I liked the way the flow of my pavilion was starting to work but was also thinking about I could incorporate the industrial shapes and perspective that I had been looking at earlier.
I thought my design was still a bit too organic so I turned to Google SketchUp and started drawing out my design there using the crane shapes that I had looked at earlier but keeping the same flow and plan and considering the way light and patterns would be created at different times of the day and year.
